Textris
Any of you who have played the addictive game Tetris, will be aware of how it works: manoeuvre a shape down into a column to complete a shape with no gaps. Well, Textris is a similar type of program, but here the student is expected to manoeuvre words into correct columns.

- Each correct guess pushes down
water in the column, in turn raising the level of a large
tank where a poor language teacher is stranded.
Each incorrect guess has the opposite effect. The aim
of the game is to get the teacher to the top of the tank
where he can escape through the door.

- The columns will consist of lexical set headings,
or grammar points. Students are rewarded for getting,
for example, Swim into the irregular past tense column
rather than the regular past tense column.
- The program comes with a large database of
vocabulary divided into our usual six levels,
with twenty subsections for each level.

- The program makes use of the Test-Teach-Test teaching methodology. After each game, a feedback section shows the words the student got right and wrong. The students can then play again and check how much they have learned.
